Current Vacancy
We’re looking for an Experienced Surveyor / Home Measurer to join the team at our brand-new Preston showroom, opening in early 2027.
You’ll be the person who makes sure every kitchen we design fits perfectly. You’ll visit customers’ homes to take accurate measurements, work closely with our designers to make sure each design works in the real space, and return before installation to check that everything fits and all services are in the right place. Where a customer is having a full project, you’ll also price the building work, flooring, plumbing and electrics.
At Prestons, we’re passionate about more than just kitchens, we’re passionate about creating a workplace where people genuinely enjoy what they do.
We sell premium German kitchens and our customers expect a first-class service. Accurate measuring and careful checking are at the heart of that, and you’ll have the time and support to do the job properly.
This role will be based at our brand-new Preston showroom, opening in early 2027, with most of your time spent visiting customers’ homes in and around Preston.
During the interview process, we’ll talk you through the showroom, expected opening dates, working hours and everything you need to know about the role, so you have a clear understanding before joining the team.
• Visiting customers’ homes across Preston and the surrounding area to carry out initial surveys and accurate measurements.
• Recording room dimensions, wall and floor conditions, and the position of doors, windows, gas, water, waste and electrical services.
• Liaising closely with our kitchen designers to make sure every design works in the space, flagging any issues early.
• Returning to site before installation to check that the design fits and all services are correctly positioned.
• Preparing clear quotations for any additional work on full projects, including building work, flooring, plumbing and electrics.
• Explaining your findings to customers in a friendly, honest and easy-to-understand way.
• Keeping accurate records, drawings and photographs so the design and installation teams have everything they need.
• Planning your own diary of appointments efficiently across the area.
• Previous experience surveying or measuring for kitchens, bathrooms, joinery or home improvements.
• A good working knowledge of building, plumbing, electrical and flooring work, enough to spot problems and price them accurately.
• Experience preparing quotations for building or renovation work.
• Excellent attention to detail. Accurate measurements are essential.
• Confident communication with customers, designers and installers.
• Good organisational skills and the ability to manage your own diary.
• The ability to work independently and as part of a close-knit team.
• A full UK driving licence.
• Experience reading kitchen plans, or using Winner design software, would be an advantage but isn’t essential.
• Salary: £35,000–£40,000, depending on experience
• Company vehicle
• Full training on our German kitchen ranges, products and processes
• Work with a premium product and a team that values doing the job properly
• A vibrant working environment, with regular staff meals, seven-a-side football, quiz nights and team socials, all paid for
• The chance to grow with us. We plan to open a new showroom approximately every 18 months, creating exciting opportunities for ambitious people with the right attitude
• Company pension
We’re big enough to offer real career opportunities, but small enough that everyone knows your name.
Everyone knows each other, chips in and has each other’s back. We work hard, have a laugh, and genuinely enjoy coming to work. Whether it’s seven-a-side football, regular team meals, activities or family events, we make time to get together outside of work too.
We focus on creating exceptional kitchens, giving honest advice and making sure every customer has a brilliant experience, and getting the measurements right is where that starts.
We like to keep things simple.
Just send us an email telling us a little about yourself, your previous experience and why you’d like to join the team. If you’ve got a CV, feel free to include it too, but don’t worry if you haven’t.
If it sounds like we’d be a good fit for each other, we’ll arrange an informal chat.
